Discover Bricks, a hidden gem in Mapo-gu's Daheung-dong, where you can enjoy freshly roasted coffee and soak in the charming atmosphere of the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail. A perfect midday escape.
There's a lesser-known neighborhood in Mapo-gu that's quietly undergoing a revival: Daheung-dong. It's easily accessible, boasts the beautiful Gyeongui Line Forest Trail, and is dotted with charming restaurants and cute cafes. It's a neighborhood with a truly friendly and inviting atmosphere.
One day, while strolling along the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail, I found myself craving a really good cup of coffee. That's when I decided to visit Cafe Bricks (카페 브릭스) near Daeheung Station. It's a relatively new cafe, but one that quickly impresses even the most discerning coffee lovers.
The Vibe: Industrial Chic Meets Cozy Comfort
As its name suggests, Bricks features an impressive brick design that gives the space an industrial yet cozy feel. The interior is clean and inviting, with ample natural light streaming in through large windows. It's a place where you can relax and enjoy your coffee while watching the laid-back scenery of Daheung-dong unfold outside.
The Coffee: A Roastery Experience
Bricks is not just a cafe; it's a roastery. This means they roast their own beans in-house, ensuring the freshest and highest quality coffee. You can even watch the roasting process, which adds a unique and engaging element to your visit. They pride themselves on selecting the best green beans each season, resulting in truly exceptional coffee.
The menu offers a wide selection of coffee options, from classic espressos and lattes to unique filter coffees. We tried the Espresso Con Panna and a hot latte. The coffee was exceptionally good, confirming that their dedication to roasting pays off.
They also offer a variety of non-coffee beverages like Bricks Deep Chocolate and refreshing fruit-based drinks, as well as a selection of teas. Don't forget to check out their dessert showcase for some sweet treats!
A Midday Treat and More
Sipping coffee in the middle of the day while watching the laid-back scenery of Daheung-dong felt like an art form. The sunlight streaming in through the large window made the coffee taste twice as good. Many people stop by Bricks for coffee to go, a testament to its reputation as a go-to coffee spot.
Whether you're looking for a delicious coffee, a cozy spot to relax, or a place to grab a quick treat while walking along the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail, Bricks is the perfect destination. It's a place that truly understands the art of coffee and creates an atmosphere where you can savor every moment.
