The winds at the end of winter are the most bitter, but with spring in the air, thinner clothes are a welcome change. Still, the wind can be piercing. Yet, it's far better than humid temperatures with fine dust. I prefer crystal-clear, cold temperatures that are so crisp they feel like they'll break. Today is one of those days, perfect for enjoying upgraded Tofu Kimchi and a beer with sardines & chives at Hohoranglang (호호랑랑).

The Vibe: Youthful, Cozy, and Tiger-Themed

Hohoranglang is just a 3-minute walk from a water station, making it easily accessible. The bar is branded with a cute little tiger, reflecting the youthful energy of the streets. The front yard is even ready for camping when the weather warms up, making it a versatile space. It's the kind of place that's easy for friends to find, making it ideal for gatherings.

Filled with cute decorative items, whether they're tigers or cats, the interior creates a warm and fuzzy atmosphere. It makes you wonder about the history of Korean tigers and if Hohoranglang is a continuation of that legacy. It's become a place to have a drink and honor tigers (my fantasy!). The atmosphere is perfect for drinking, with spacious seating for groups.

The Menu: Upgraded Korean Fusion Delights

Hohoranglang, true to its name, offers a variety of dishes that can be called culinary masterpieces. We ordered the representative menu, Hangjeongsal Sanghap & Chives (항정살 삼합 & 부추), and Crab Meat Mayo Onigiri (게살 마요 주먹밥). For drinks, we tried the Moonshine Highball and Terra beer.

Hangjeongsal Sanghap & Chives

The sliced leek moochim (seasoned salad) was incredibly delicious, so much so that I almost asked for the recipe. The vinegar was perfectly balanced with the chives, creating a refreshing and flavorful combination.

Crab Meat Mayo Onigiri

Due to crab meat supply issues, they offered a special price, and it was incredibly well-seasoned. It's an appetizer that truly calls for alcohol.

Moonshine Highball

This was an unusual and delicious highball, tasting exactly as good as you'd imagine. It's like the alcoholic version of ground pear, incredibly refreshing.

The Experience: A Place to Recharge Your Tiger Energy

Eating a triple batch of antipodean chives tofu at once, throwing in a rice ball, and washing it down with beer – it's a truly delicious experience. Hohoranglang is famous for its specialty snacks, and I'm already looking forward to trying their Bibimbap Kalguksu next time.

As you get older, you start to appreciate Korean food more, and Hohoranglang, with its fusion Korean food, perfectly caters to that. It's a place where you can truly feel your tiger energy rise.
